4th cat - kit requirements?

I'm looking at entering my first race. I am not currently a member of a club, so have no club kit to wear. Are there any restrictions on what I can/can't wear for a 3/4 cat race.
Before anyone says go and join a club and get group riding experience, I've been riding with a group (between 6-16 riders) on a weekly basis for over a year now.

The rules on clothing are in this document on the British Cycling website.0
-
From the BC rule book:-8.1.9 In Road and Track events, Youth, Fourth and Provisional category licence holders and BC non licence holders will be allowed to wear any suitable clothing whilst competing in events under the Technical Regulations of the Federation, including that bearing registered or unregistered advertising except in the case of National Championships when they must comply with T.R. 8.1.1 to 8.1.6. However protective headgear must be worn in accordance with T.R. 8.6.
Suitable clothing means clothed from neck to mid thigh with a sleeved jersey i.e. normal cycling clothing, no sleeveless tri suits (although you could theoretically wear any shorts that are long enough and a T shirt / jumper).0 -
Although if you can avoid it, don't be this guy.

Thanks for the responses. Rule 8.1.9 specifically says provisional category license holders. Does that mean if I was to upgrade to a full race license I would then not be covered by this rule? Or am I not reading it correctly?0

It says youth, fourth and provisional, so it sounds like you're OK until you get promoted.0 -

Thanks. I suspected I was misinterpreting it.
And don't worry I have no intention of wearing any teams kit as I think it would be wrong to in an actual race.0 -

He looks to be coping well though to be fair, I think it's good to see that sort of thing as it shows racing isn't as elitist and snobby as some seem to think.0 -

Does he? Teeth gritted when all other riders are looking comfy. He looks in pain when no one else is.0 -

I look like that in the neutralised zone! I guess it's hard to tell how far into the race it is but he seems to be fiarly well up the bunch.0 -
Same guy here mixing it on the front with a few elite riders

That guy is a champion, baggy shorts and shirt, milk bottle specs and a bike that wouldn't break the bank.. I think he will give hope to anyone who wishes to take up racing and is intimidated to do so!0 -
He jumped off the front of the 3/4s when the E12s went past and stayed away for a little while.0 -

As I said above, that guy was in the 3/4 race. When the E12 bunch came past, the 3/4s slowed down a bit. He took the opportunity to jump off the front. You can see by the arm pointing at him that he's being told to move over a bit more to let them past. The rest of his race is back a bit further and to the side of the track.
He stayed away for a little while, but a 3/4 bunch at Castle Combe doesn't let anyone get away for long.0 -
Damn funny picture either way.0

they're lapping him, I think...
There's some quality riders in that pic.0 -
As long as the guy is enjoying himself then let it be.0

Lined up behind the 3/4's at Castle Combe last summer and noticed a chap wearing a GB skinsuit with running shorts over the top0

Brilliant that photo.
Anyone else notice that his front caliper Q/R is half undone...0 -

He was in the 3/4 race. He finished with the bunch. On the same lap.0

One further question. Is it ok to wear bib tights etc? Seeing as the race is in just over a week and I suspect its going to be rather cold still.0

Please tell me you're kidding...those were banned by the UCI long before EPO.
No I'm not kidding that's why I'm asking. I don't know what is/isn't allowed I've never raced before.0 -

Winter clothing is allowed mate. Dress sensibly for the conditions.0
