If anyone is thinking of getting themselves fitted properly in the near future and your close to Cambridge then I can highly recommend Tim Williams from http://www.perfectcondition.ltd.uk.

Over the weeks I had been increasing my mileage by around 5 miles each weekend and interval training during the week, then a couple of weeks ago I managed to pull my hamstring and the doc told me to stay of the bike for at least 7 days. I eased into riding the bike over last week but had decided to get a bike fit to minimise the risk of injury due to poor fit. I went to see Tim on thursday for the fitting which was a pleasant experience, I needed a longer stem so all in all it cost me £95.00 total.

I got back on the bike friday morning for some intervals and noticed a massive difference in comfort but had to cut short the ride due to other commitments. So today I decided to try and get back where I was on the bike a couple of weeks ago and planned a ride around 75km, but I was feeling so good at around 70km I decided to plough on and managed to get to 95km http://app.strava.com/activities/41221701.

So from my experience well worth the money!

  • 95 quid with a new stem? My local bike shop are charging 200 quid just for a fitting (it's A BG Fit if that makes a difference)

From what I've gathered the BG fit is one of the dynamic motion capture type fits like Retul?

£100 for a standard 'measure the angles, adjust the cleats on feel, and watch them on the turbo' type fit is in the right ballpark.
  • Sounds about right for the money.

Glad to hear that it made a good difference to your comfort when riding, plus well done on the distance covered always nice when you do a good ride, even better when you realise it was a bit of an epic in distance.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Heard mixed reviews of his fitting service. Two bad and one good so far. He always seems to spec a longer stem which is ok if you don't mind feeling more stretched on the bike. Personally I would rather tinker with the fit myself until it feels right for me, not just what someone says is right.
