There's been an consultation in the DRD based around allowing all taxis into Bus Lanes. This will make commuting into Belfast much more hazardous; with bike lanes a waste of paint, bus lanes are generally the safest way in.
A protest against Department for Regional Development (DRD) plans to allow all taxis to use bus lanes in Belfast and across NI. Cycling safety and growth, and efficient public transport must be the priorities in Belfast.
Adding 1,500 private hire taxis to the 500 wheelchair accessible cabs already permitted in bus lanes will do lasting damage to sustainable transport here - scaring off potential new cyclists and slowing bus journeys for all.
“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!

From what I see every morning, they have already been using the bus lanes irregardless. Along with a lot of other plonkers. And strangely I keep seeing Motorbikes and scooters sitting in the main queue of traffic seemingly oblivious to their right to use the lane to the left?0
