I'm thinking about changing the wheels on my road bike I'm just over 90kg (yeah yeah yeah, I know...) and the Shimano 20 spoke rear isn't coping that well with the state of the roads and my weight and it requires straightening on a monthly basis. The 16 spoke front is fine and is true as a bullet and never needs looking at.

Anywho, I'm thinking of getting a new pair of wheels (I like things matching) and have been looking at the Hope road wheels, ok not the sexyest but they are well built and are at a good price point, what else should I be considering that are as strong and a similar price?

Cheers
This is why!

Dude - without being unhelpful - just have a look at the historic threads on this - there are loads of things written on wheels (and for guys a similar size to you). I'd advise you to do this - as there is a good amount of information on there that might otherwise be missed.

Just get a well built set with at least 32 spokes (36 even better) and ignore any other advice.

Hand builts can be had for £200 to £300 depending on the build specs.

Ugo.Santalucia on here can advise on the specifics, but low spoke count wheels are not generally a wise move for Rugby Build Folk, despite what anyone on here may claim.
    Yellow is the new Black.

You can get the Hope hubs built on a sexier rim... doesn't have to be dull... :D
