What wall hanger?

It's got to the point in my garage where I need to make space and this means hanging the bikes from the wall. I assumed there'd be simple hooks I could buy but looking at these it appears to me there just not log enough, even though there's no sizes that I can see on most. I've looked at both the park tools and kingfisher varieties...
I suppose I need to measure how close to the wall my bikes can get and measure from there and visit a shop but has anyone any advice, tips?
I'm aware there are full framed hanging units but I just feel hooks is simple and the more affordable route

Yeah, looked at those but discounted as I took it as being one of those that hook a wheel and you hang it from that. Which is what I want to avoid.0 -
i just use Large heavy duty DIY hooks into the wall and hang em up by the wheels, the tag along, wifes bike, my main bike, siglespeed and Old school bouncer are on the back wall of the shed, (old stone wash house) with the kiddy trailer on the side, wifes commutor and daughters bike slot inbetween on the floor and are secured with 2 16mm cables looped through wheels and frames,
no harm in hanging them by the wheels! hooks cost me under a tenner iircTimmo.

Have some of these hang & hook ones and they are pretty good - http://www.tuskstore.com/index.php/cPath/28
Though my brother in law has the wall mounted version - http://www.tuskstore.com/index.php/cPath/22
Genrally a bit more expensive than some makes I have seen but damn solid indeed.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
I'm using big rubber coated DIY type hooks. Cost a couple of pounds each.
Hanging the bike from a wheel is not a problem.0
