So - where should one look for one, and is there not a forum on here dedicated to finding one? Or even a sticky?

    find a local club - google it
    tap up pals to cycle locally
    the training and the sportives events section on this forum has discussion of people training together

    I live in north Bucks but there are loads around in mid too and you should be able to find club members that rider other than the weekend club run.
    Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
