I watched Threads last night for the first time since it was originally broadcast. A brilliant view on the effects of a nuclear strike on Sheffield and a window into a vanished world.
Purveyor of "up" :)

    Haven't seen it since but from what I can remember, I watched it when I was quite young and then being terrified that that was how the world was going to end!
  • Yes it was memorable tv - it catches not only the paranoia and bleakness of the time but also the paranoia, mental instability and bleakness of reagan and thatcher.
    The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
    momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

    Best horror film ever, mainly because it could actually happen.

    'Edge of Darkness' is another great piece of 80s TV that manages this, though in a rather different way.
