Hi all Time.to.Ride Here, sorry for using my fb login but my details for logging as normal are having a blond moment lol.
I am looking for a new frame to replace my 2009 Orange P7 frame i kow the measurements i use a 19" frame the BB is a 68mm, the seat tube is a 27.2mm and it takes a standard 1/1.8 headset and one got any ideas what frames i could use prob want to go for an alloy frame or if lucky but doubtful a carbon frame would be nice. :P
Suggestions please ?
Thanks

Are you selling your P7 frame?
I want a 19" P7 frame.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Yes Rockmonkey i would be, the only part of the frame that has rust to worry about is the tiny steel brace where the mudguard fits onto behind the bottom bracket on the rear triangle.
I would have just got it resprayed but i would like a lighter frame if poss?0 -

Very few frames are made with 27.2 frame nowadays (some steel still do though). Headsets could be anything, so it is going to be very difficult to get one exactly of the same spec.
How come you want to change, what you have sounds ideal!0 -
It is mate and you have seen the bike and now it has a full compliment of 2013 groupset but the reason is i could just get it re sprayed but the brace behind the BB where the mudguard goes is well rusty. I could goto Argos cycles and get it replaced i guess but i still need to strip it first and its just alot of fuss for a small bit of steel so i thought respray or new frame and its not alot of diff price wise really?0

Just get it stripped back, derusted and sprayed, that small brace is almost certainly much thicker than it needs to be for convenaince.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Would it be as stable then you reckon? Not sure it wouldnt be nearly as expensive as buying a nbew frame though and just transferring lol

You could do a steel frame yourself for about £25.... max cost to get it done would be about £60.....lot cheaper than a new frame!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

OT but why do people call bikes they are trying to sell or change 'beloved'?
Often see it in the adds, "selling my beloved xyz hardtail, only been ridden 3 times..."
In my mind selling a bike cos it is too heavy and / or rusty is at odds with it being 'beloved'
Sorry for being pedantic, just one of my pet hates!0 -
PMSL @ chrisw333 just a force of habit i guess mate lol. And i actually just really want a new frame that is slightly more responsive mate.0
