More Bad Luck....

....So in a continuation of my bad luck (made redundant, broke my wrist), my boiler at home has broken down so we've had no hot water or heating for the past couple of days and more importantly some b@stard broke into my shed and stole 3 bikes, pannier bags and a few other things..... Sigh...
I'm still unable to ride for at least mid to late March with the wrist in plaster but I want to get at least 1 replacement bike so I can get back into things as soon as possible and given that my broken wrist was mainly caused by my carrying a hefty rucksack, I'm looking for something relatively light which has eyes for panniers and may be mudguards.... I'm aware of the good old Ribble Audax which is 1 option but is there anything else out there anyone would recommend? Strictly road bike/tourer style - don't want any hybrid rubbish....
Also, any recommendations on making a shed more secure?! Alarms? bolt/padlock combos etc?

FFS! Were you really really bad in a previous life.
Regarding shed security I'd go with a ground anchor through the floor and a fookin' big chain, then additional D locks that you can also use when you go out.
Cheers Pangolin, I'll buy you a pint if he goes for it.0 -
Can you turbo with your wrist like that?
Sorry - that was insensitive of me. It sounds like you've had enough unpleasantness.0 -
Can you not keep the bikes inside? I now have one hung on a bedroom wall and one on the sitting room wall. They were ousted from the spare room which is becoming the nursery...

Rather than buying new bag/panniers etc - have you not considered putting less in the one you have?
