Hi all
I have been looking at the following hubs for a new wheel build. Mainly weekend fun ridding and odd sportive.
Ideally the hubs need to be black hence looking at the following, which would you guys recommend or should i look at something else. I want a strong sturdy wheel that is durable and a decent weight. Essentially if it worth spending another £30 now i will instead of upgrading the wheels again in a couple of years.
Shimano 105 5700 Black - £50 for pair

HaloSpin - £105 parir

If you are not obsessed about the gram, Shimano or Miche... they are the heaviest, they are also the ones with more durable bearings and freehubs. It is down to whether you want sealed bearings (Miche) or cone and ball.
Miche also come as 28 holes, while with 105 you are limited to 32.
On balance, I'd say Shimano for your requirementsleft the forum March 20230 -
The lightweight Novatecs are a lot lighter than the Ambrosio Zeniths / Halos (both Novatecs anyway) and would be my choice. Robust design and replacement cartridge bearings are readily available.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

80 grams, not exactly a lot... The front 291 is quite fragile and bearings on the rear are not very durable either... Ok, but only for light riders and dry weatherleft the forum March 20230 -
Thanks for all your replies.

I ve got pasta rings bigger than your front bearings....left the forum March 20230 -
haha, i will see how long they last if they don't i will cook them.
tho that guy sells the SL version as well as the normal version. so maybe you can mix A291SB (the normal front hub) with the F482SB-SL. you may be able to negotiate a better price too.
the £80 dosh inc delivery (no custom charges if declared gift or even bike parts as its too low value) but it does take upto 2 weeks to get to you as he is based in TaiwanRoad - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg
