BBC News (excuse the grammar, 'ive never heard Tesco 'talk'):

"Tesco have revelaed that some of their own brand products contain horsemeat..."

Was it better to raise the problem themselves than have the food standards boys announce it ?
Did they sit in the board room and decide that announcing it themselves would knock 5% of the share price, whereas having an outside agency would knock 10% of the share value?

This is outrageous! Tesco is a single entity. It should read: "Tesco has revealed..."
  • You missed the first grammatical error
    it should not read
(excuse the grammar, 'ive never heard Tesco 'talk'):

The correct English should have been
(excuse the grammar,I've never heard Tesco 'talk'):

Though when I was taught English my teacher frowned on the use of abbreviations in the written word.

With respect to the content of why Tesco's announced it. It may be as much about PR as share value. It makes it look as though they are doing something
