Do you use a mirror on your bling roadie?

Do you ride with a mirror on your bling roadie? I do and notice others are doing so too. Definitely a good idea in racing/commuting/bunch rides etc. They are those most covert, aero yet functional mirror on the market. I like it in group rides cos you can see the pain on the faces of the riders behind you and then click it up a few extra watts and watch the faces hurt even more! Alternatively you can be hurting but the faces behind you are talking and have their mouths shut in between sentences!

Not bad for safety too if you are like me and ride with headphones on country roads.

Ive used a few and rate this one the best.

*I don't get a commission if you buy a mirror, I just rate these mirrors and have em on all my bikes and always get asked about where to get one. They are a bit fiddly to set up BUT stay solid for years. YOU have to set them up as a mechanic doesnt sit like you do on YOUR bike.

I particularly enjoyed the in-depth review of the Giant Avail. Cycling Plus have little to fear

Yeah, he needs the mirror so he can blank out reality by looking at how awesome he is.

And no I do not have one :x

  • No, because I'm capable of turning my head to look over my shoulder. Motorcyclists call this act "lifesaver" for good reason.
  • Not sure why everyone is being quite so aggressive - did I miss a memo or something (and yes I know who he is)

    Anyway link doesn't work.

I've tried a mirror in the past (in theory they are a great idea - hence them being found on cars, motorbikes and other modes of transport) but found two major issues:

    1. They just weren't stable enough on my push bike (obviously this may vary between different systems). The rear facing view was all over the place, and this probably led directly to
    2. Bloody scary watching cars come up behind you at speed. It's bad enough when you only get to see them as they go past - it's a whole lot scarier when you can see them behind you as they approach.

So for those reasons I'm out.

  • Mirrors on cars are only there so you can check out the people in other cars when stuck in a traffic jam, are they not? :D

And no, I wouldn't have one on my bike.

People know who the Chuckle Brothers are as well. I wouldn't take cycling tips from them though...

You don't need a mirror when most of your rides are manual entries. What a joker, uploads a 351km manual entry in the midnight hour to win a Strava competition. Those are the sort of guys that ride motor scooters to win KOM's.

Using mirrors on road bike is as wrong as using bells.

Mirrors? I tend to use my ears and my eyes. An additional source of information on the bars would be both distracting, and largely pointless - I ride with people I trust not to f.k up.
