New bike arrived today. This is my first ever 29er but I had the 26" version of this bike and I loved it. Was perfect no fuss bike for my city commute. I got rid of it and bought a fixed gear bike but the roads here in Aberdeen are so bad I am finding a road bike a bit harsh and uncomfortable.
First thoughts, good service from chain reaction cycles. Ordered the bike on thursday and arrived this morning. Bike seems well put together and the pedals are the only obvious thing that will need replaced straight away. Not sure how I will get on with the bars so they might get swapped eventually. The bike is advertised as an urban type commuter but I had it out today and it seems like it is more than capable of trails. I am now thinking I will put a smaller chain ring on it and use this for bike trekking. It rides well, steers quickly, big tyres to soak up the bumps and is a cheap first 29er. Here are some pics of from this morning.

Looks good, but although I did run my 29er hardtail at 20psi with the fork locked inadvertently because I was on the smooth hardback I soon noticed it was not there once it gained air and hit drop offs so you could run it on trails, but it will be a bit of a bone shaker unless you run tubeless and a low psi.
I did have a rigid mtb when I was 13, but call me an old man, but I like a bit of squish.
Have fun though!0 -

I was wondering how the chain tensioning works with the disc brakes? Also, does the disc version feature mudguard mounts?0
