I am fairly new to road bikes (having ridden a mountain bike for the last 20+ years). I've recently become the proud owner of a defy 1 (thanks cycle to work!). I'm looking for a book/dvd or internet resource to help me with my road skills.
I'm planning on entering a few sportives and want to be able to enjoy them and be confident at speed (which I am on my mtb), so I need something to give me pointers/tips on road bike skills (incl bike setup), training etc.
Any suggestions?

^-^ Pretty spot on advice - would defiantly recommend joining a local club and going out with them as you'll learn the basics pretty quickly & they should look after you as a new member/cyclist. Plus you'll probably find that other members will be entering local sportives too.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
This was quite good if you want a book, covering various aspects of cycling..... borrowed it from my local library

I like "Watch Your Line" by Alan Canfield. It isn't rocket science but he comes up with good alternative ways of describing how things should feel when trying out techniques that just made things click in my head.
Not for everyone, but worked for me.0
