London Ride 100

The people that I think (and I think others on this thread have mentioned) should not be doing it are the ones who got in on the ballot, seem to have little or no interest/experence in cycling and are possibly not raising any money for charity.
I think their place should have gone to someone with an interest (even small) in the sport (the people we want to inspire).
Others who want to raise money would have already got a charity place, and as long as they (if they are inexperienced cyclists) train, then everyone is happy.0 -
Are your last two posts serious? Or are you trying to get a rise?0

Its a forum and that is my opinion/ideas.
Why don't you put yours instead of just making rude comments?0 -

I didn't mention inspiring anyone to ride a bike, and this isn't Olympic legacy.
How would you qualify an interest in the sport (even small)?0 -

"Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 will start in the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park"
The above text is the first line on the Prudentialridelondon.co.uk London-Surrey 100 page.
I would say that someone with a small interest would already have a road bike and go out on it maybe once a week.
Either that or they have been wanting to get into road cycling and this event has 'inspired' them to buy a road bike and get the miles in.0 -
Hi All. I failed in getting my place but I did accidentally select the donate and get a jersey option.
So I have a jersey i do not want as I am not on the ride. The jersey is black with blue/white logo details. It is a Medium in size, which is 39-41" Chest. If anybody is interested I can upload some photos etc.
Cheers

The 'donating' that you did on your ballot entries got your entries into the additional ballot, which still did not guarantee a place.
And the donation only occurs at all, if you're unsuccessful in both ballots. If you get a place, the entry fee is just that - the entry fee, erm, for entering.
As I said, there were no group entries. No linking of entries. No dependency between entries. No significance of the 'donating' your entry fee, other than a) it buys you entry to the secondary ballot and b) it's donated if you fail.
Caveat form-filler, I'm afraid.
Update, I received a very pleasant response apologising, and stating that this had happened to a few other family members, and I have now received a place. Nothing to do with group entries, just a failure to recognise people from the same address with the same surname0
