Losing race at the start.
I was watching the revolution and my son asked in the sprint (1 on 1) 3 laps. Why doesn't the lead man just go. Why the cat and mouse. I said it sometimes does happen, but I can't find an example on the Internet. I know it happend last year (world champs?) can anyone help?

I think Kenny went off from the line against Gregory Bauge in the individual sprint final of the world championships this year, in the second race. I have tried to find the video but been unsuccessful, can only find their final from 2011.0

Forsteman did it to Sireau in the world cup in London last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j73jfBHDFyc0

And more famously, Robert Forstermann did it to Sir Chris Hoy at the 2010 Track World Championships- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDMmPNuO0BoI’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.0

Thank you. I hadn't realised boatman has lost like that. If you haven't seen the race, what a come back.
Are they really allowed to give such a big push at the start? It was like a slingshot.0 -
It absolutely is allowed, Hoy talks about it in his book.0

As far as I know the rider is supposed to be "supported" and not pushed.0
