Good Buy... I'm not sure

I was in my LBS yesterday and got offered, what I felt was a bargain. A 2013 Giant Revel 2 for a little under 300 notes, if I'd had my wallet I would have bought it. However, reading reviews I don't think it was such a bargain but am unsure what other bikes to look at in that proce bracket circa £350... OR do some of you think that's a good deal and go for it?

It's a poor bike. You would get a much better bike from Decathlon or Halfords at this price range.

It's dire, even at £350, compared to a similar price Carrera Vulcan
    Forks, M series versus XCM
Bars steel and 25.4 versus alloy and 31.8
Brakes tektro cable versus clarkes hydraulic
Shifter/mechs/wheels etc are all markedly inferior.

It's a £200 bike with £200 worth of Giant sticker added.
