Shoes for wet riding that don't act like 5-10 sponges

I have been riding in 5-10 Freeriders but during the winter we ride through a lot of streams and end up with wet feet. The 5-10s are like mega sponges and hold the water causing my feet to freeze and squelch for the next 30kms. Not to mention the 6 hours they require in the oven to dry them out after every ride.

Can anyone recommend a decent shoe for flat pedals that don't hold water so well? Alternatively, I could consider spd shoes as they seem less padded. Would this be a better option? Do they dry quicker?
