Shoes for wet riding that don't act like 5-10 sponges

I have been riding in 5-10 Freeriders but during the winter we ride through a lot of streams and end up with wet feet. The 5-10s are like mega sponges and hold the water causing my feet to freeze and squelch for the next 30kms. Not to mention the 6 hours they require in the oven to dry them out after every ride.
Can anyone recommend a decent shoe for flat pedals that don't hold water so well? Alternatively, I could consider spd shoes as they seem less padded. Would this be a better option? Do they dry quicker?

Less padded shoes = less insulation = cold feet.
My five tens keep my feet warmer than anything else I've tried. Man up.0 -
I had five tens and since changing to Shimano AM45's I would never go back to them. My feet stay much dryer and just as warm as they ever were in Five Ten's, they have just as much insulation but it's a much less absorbent material.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Got some Sombria's on CRC's sale - 66% off (I think they've gone up again a bit since) - nice and sticky on the pedals, a lot less spongy than 5 10's.I don't do smileys.

If you're getting spds then Diadora Polaris have worked really well for me. Feet have been dry and warm all winter. Not got decent sizes here but search around.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take a closer look at the AM45s. Just need to get used to the look of them.paulneenan76 wrote:Shimano AM 45's. look like baby killer whales but do the biz all year round.ilovedirt wrote:Less padded shoes = less insulation = cold feet.
