Anyone tried the American Classic AM wheelset and more specifcally comment on their durability?
Looking at changing my wheelset for my AM bike, currently running hope hoops (ZTR flow rims) on an Santa Cruz Nomad, and i like the look of the c 200 gram weight saving and wider rims.
My concern is how will they hold up to hammering round the peak district on fairly low tyre pressures? Now i'm not one for big drops or huge jumps etc, but i do like to throw the bike around and attack the downs.
Has anyone got any views / experience of them?

Do you have a link to the exact set? There are a few versions over the years.0

this is off AC's web site but they are the ones that i've been looking at for c £500 for the set.
for the past number of years I've always used hope hubs on what ever wheel build and found them pretty indistructable. Concerned that AC bearings won't deal with the peak disctrict gritstone mud and the rims might be a bit soft for the rocky downhills at that weight??0 -
I've the normal tubeless version (sub 1500g ones) which have been fantastic, 2 years on and no trouble at all (touch wood) im 16st before kitting up and ride a hardtail, am also a heavy riding style rider too, im no air freak and dont take big drops, 2ft max really, but they've been brilliant, would highly recommend, ive run mine at 20psi on the rear with a nobby nic 2.2 tyre, no issues at all, other than boat like wallowing! :-D
the ac tubeless valves ar very pretty but not very robust! Stick to std tubeless valves! ;-)Timmo.
After all, I am Cornish!

Thanks for the input. How have the bearing on the hubs held up? The peak district mud has a way of killing things in double quick time0 -
Have had no troubles at all with them, we've a fair amount of mud/poop/gloop donw here and they've been fine, still spin amazingly freely!
They are also common bearingsTimmo.
