I've got a Dell Inspiron N5110 with 4GB RAM and Intel core i5 processor. It does laptopping very well, but it is actually a bit wider than my lap (if you're worried about portability).

It's the 3rd Dell I've had and I've never had any problems with them. They're cheap but seem OK.

Thanks Mike. Size no issue as it will probbaly never leave the house. Just don't have the space for a permanent desk top set up.

    Avoid Dells like the plague
I got an HP from John Lewis for £480 and am well pleased with it

Top tip: spilling coffee on your laptop is invariably a bad thing

It's just a hill. Get over it.
