Fully Alu Trek, no CF forks.
So some extra vibb r ra tt tion / padding always welcome.
No need to break the bank either!
Thanks

Could always do what the pro's do in the classics and go with a cheap double layer of tape option?Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

Cinelli gel pads are pretty good. Apply them directly to the bars and then tape over. Now under a fiver from Wiggle:

Theres a few Deda tapes and some quite good Ritchet Pro tape on wiggle too. You can get the pads and tape for little over a tenner.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
I always double tape. I use Fizik Microtech tape and it works really well.
Comes in Matt or Gloss in loads of colours so you can go all S&M with gloss black ;-)Yellow is the new Black.0 -

Going all S&M does that involve you taping yourself to the bike!Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
The black gloss Fizik mircotex tape is 5hi7 in the wet. Not as much grip as the equivalent matt tape. It looks nice and is pretty hardwearing though.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0

This, although if the bars are already quite 'fat' they'll be obese with AVS pads + tape added.0 -
I put Specialized Phat Tape and pads on at the weekend. Definitely notice the difference. Wound it the wrong way on the left hand side though. Flippin' idiot!0

Zipp Service Course bar tape. It has a rubberised feel so awesome in wet or dry, and is very padded so requires no additional gel pads etc. Looks very cool too in a matt finish.0

Fizik Microtex in matt black is the best I've used. If you want a little more padding then I'd tape your cables to the bars with cloth tape rather than electrical tape (functional and cheap double wrapping).0

I have white bar tape, and last year was replacing fairly regularly with some of the more expensive stuff - just could not keep it clean. Then bought some cheap own brand Decathlon tape for £4, and it has been great. Easily kept clean, durable and just a comfortable/grippy as anything else.0

Lizard Skins DSP, great stuff ...0

Just looking online at bike stores and the Fizik microtex is approx £9.99....looking at the picture, i assumed this was enough for both bars.....or is that each sode and you need 2x packs???
cheers.0 -
double layer of Bianchi tape does me fine - bottom layer ends an inch or so short of drop end and at end of flat bit onn bar tops for neatness
and yes 1 pack covers both sides of bars.Bianchi Infinito CV

1 packet contains sufficient to put one complete layer on each side and also includes end plugs, hood strips and finishing tape.
If you wish to double wrap then 2 packets required.Yellow is the new Black.0
