Marzocchi MZ2 question

I have an old set of Marzocchi MZ2's, with 100mm of stantion showing, I would then assume that it would be nearly 100mm travel but they stop at about half this. Do they need servicing? They havent been touched, internally, since I got them with the bike, about 6 years ago
