Bike for Bobby Sportive - 125miles - 11th Aug - £23
Wiggle Hell of Hexham - 99miles - 29th Sept - £28

Hoping to do one of the March ones, quite possibly the Columbia Cardio. Seems pretty good, and food at the end. Hope they are still serving hours after the 1st guy comes home tho!

  • Many thanks for info on rides in the Northeast, will tackle some of the sportives this year.
  • What?!
you doing hell of hexham and etape pennines!!! and no beast!

my aim is to do :
    from may
    Richmond 80miles
    cyclone
velo29 (possiblily, but doubtful as week after cyclone)
    wiggle angel
    Durham BR Beast
Hell of hexham or etape pennines.
wanted to bellingham blast as i don't have a "proppa" road bike, but a cross bike. think it clashes with one of the above and theres a lot on in september.

I suspect the Etape Pennines reviews as a tough event will increase rather than decrease the uptake, despite the price. Everyone likes a challenge.

I did this event last year and really enjoyed it, despite struggling with the hills. I have entered again this year so I can try to do a bit better now I know what to expect. I just hope the weather is as nice as it was last year.
  • I also did pennines last year, enjoyed it even if hills came one after another, in a short distance, I heard a lot of people saying they will not be back, and if they do not get enough people it wil go the same way as the etape Hibernia, cancelled after a couple of years, I hope not thou as its a lovely area

The list has now been updated with the Darlington Council rides. 1st Sunday of June, July, August and finishing with the Hell of the North 100 miler in September.
  • The hell of the north is much better than the beast imo, and a lot cheaper plus t,shirt and certificate sent out after event, plus u can pay on day.

There are three new Audax rides that have just been announced today. They all start from Ingleby Barwick, near Stockton on Tees. There is a choice of 50 kms, 100 kms or 200 kms, with the later two heading out into the North Yorks Moors. Entry for each of the rides is less than a fiver.

    There is more details at

    and you can enter at

    Ralph Cross 200k http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-435/

Anyone done any of the Seaham Sircular, When Im 64 (100km) or Colomba Cardio Classic? Any can recommend/review them?

Looking to do one of them, as they are all around 100km and hilly, i would guess they would take us about 5hrs cycle/6hr total to complete.

Thanks, what made it so good for you? It seems a bit of a cross between an Audax and a Sportive? With signed roads and a bit of food at the end. Any gallery's from last year's ride?

  • Wot made it gud was the people were friendly, and it was sign posted and a good testing course, plus the feed stop is great, plus it is run by a cycling club, jst like richmond sportive,so they know wot we cyclists want. if it wasnt so good people wud not keep going back. Plus ive never climbed buttertubs so its a extra challange for me, and a good season opener, then on to wooler wheel and richmond for me

cheers for that! Ive done Buttertubs before, but not from this side. Judging by the descent ive done of that side, its gonna be some tough climb, extremely steep in places. Hopefully i'll be on the startline for it too!
