I use the Castelli Aero Race gloves, the minimal padding actually suits me better.

+1 Some people may not like the gel padding on the palms though. They also fit small, so order one size up.

I think they're great summer mitts.

I'm on my second pair of these:

    http://www.pearlizumi.co.uk/ride/access ... -gel-glove

I had some unpadded Pearl Izumi long fingered gloves with pittards leather palms but they don't seem to do a long finger summer glove with pittards anymore.

I've just plumped for a pair each of these and with some googling got them with a hefty discount from RRP.

Yes, very much so. Put it this way, they'll be my next pair of gloves too.

    There's a review by road.cc here:

I've got one pair of Rapha Pro Team mitts left so they'll be getting deployed when the good weather arrives and only used for the best of the best days. Rapha better feckin hurry up with the new version - but there was nowt wrong with the old version!

I’ve also got a pair of Giro LX mitts for the summer – good but not Pro Team good - and a pair of LX LF gloves which have been brought out now that it's getting marginally warmer.

All three pairs have minimal padding which IMO works best. Good ulna protection and just enough on the rest of the palm.

The prendas ones above are superb. They are pretty much the current Etxeondo / Assos type of glove and I am guessing made in the same place they ALL come out of.

They have snot wipes, and cut is spot on. I bought a job load of exteondo ones that were similar when on offer on thier website for £7.

    Slight EDIT: http://www.prendas.co.uk/details.asp?ty ... =6&ID=2395

these are more like the ones I prefer for shape... but costlier! As good as assos/etxeondo, though.

Im tempted by the Rapha mitts but I'll need to apply for a remortgage before that happens.

Don't do it. Grand tour version.
Team mitts @ £50 very good and at sales price of £30 even value for money.
Grand Tour version @ £100 very good and comfy but get tatty and wear out after 2 seasons. Not value for money.

I will snap up the sales Team mitts if it ever happens again.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

    What daviesee said.

If you want a pair of 'retro' leather mitts then go out and pick up a pair of the Giro LX mitts from last year (this year's model doesn't have the cut out back anymore - shame). The Grand Tour gloves are - can't believe I'm going to say this about Rapha - not worth it. But if you want the bee's knees, wait for the 'Pro Team' mitts to be re released. They're sure to come in either black, white or Team Sky colours. Same excellent palm as the GT but with a synthetic back and snot wipe. They are the dog's bollax.
