Accident in Long Eaton (Notts/Derby border)

To the guy that got left hooked by a white van today (approx 11:30am) in Long Eaton, if you need a statement or any details from me then feel free to pm.
I'm the one who stopped to help, gave the foil blanket to try and keep you warm whilst the police/ambulance arrived. I was also right behind the white van and saw everything.

To anyone wondering what happened, it was a clear case of van driver overtaking cyclist only to immediately turn left giving no room to avoid a collision. I believe the cyclist was ok, he claimed he didn't need an ambulance but had some shoulder pain.

I hope you managed to get to your mother-in-laws for Sunday dinner!

Happened to one of our club riders today, too, with some idiot overtaking then hooking into a petrol station. Thankfully, there was no collision... just.

If you have not already done so why not leave your details with the police, who presumably know who the victim is. I suspect this will be a more successful approach rather than a bulletin board.

I did indeed leave my details with the police. I just wasn't sure what the protocol is with them passing my details to the cyclist. Never witnessed an accident before, nor given my details to police for any reason.
I did think this was a long shot, but the cyclist said he owned 3 bikes, so made the assumption that he may be a member on here!

good on you for putting yourself up there and doing the right thing.

it always makes it a little more real as Long Eaton is on my usual long run route.

did the van driver stop to help or did he drive off? if so did you get the reg number to name and shame?
