Looking at buying Careers banishee x (from Halfords) for some rides around local Forrest trails. It's quite lumpy / small jumps and general off road riding. Does anyone have any reviews or alternatives around the same price bracket (£ 800)

The Banshee would be overbiked for what you describe, it's built to handle some fairly serious abuse and weighs in accordingly (frame plus a the coil shock on the lower models is 4Kg!), the RR 9.1 would be a much better bet.
It actually sounds like you'd be better off on a hardtail anyway?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
to be honest you would be better off getting a voodoo hoodoo for £500 and saving yourself 300 bucks! you would have more fun on it and it would be a lot more of an all rounder.0

Banshee is ok but it weighs a ton and is built for harder riding on a budget.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
