Looking at buying Careers banishee x (from Halfords) for some rides around local Forrest trails. It's quite lumpy / small jumps and general off road riding. Does anyone have any reviews or alternatives around the same price bracket (£ 800)

The Banshee would be overbiked for what you describe, it's built to handle some fairly serious abuse and weighs in accordingly (frame plus a the coil shock on the lower models is 4Kg!), the RR 9.1 would be a much better bet.

It actually sounds like you'd be better off on a hardtail anyway?
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

to be honest you would be better off getting a voodoo hoodoo for £500 and saving yourself 300 bucks! you would have more fun on it and it would be a lot more of an all rounder.

Banshee is ok but it weighs a ton and is built for harder riding on a budget.
  • Thanks all for the input, will go and look into the other bikes mentioned.
