Which Hybrid should I buy Help Please!

Hello all,
I have recently started to cycle to work and am looking to buy a hybrid cycle that will be a speedy commuter but be able to handle some trailwork at the weekends. I also have an 18 month old so will need to attach the baby seat (hamax kiss). I would like the stopping power of hydraulic discs and front suspension with lockout.

so far I have looked at: Specialized crosstrail elite
Trek 8.4 DS
Giant Roam xr1
Ghost 5500

I am possibly going to use the cycle to work scheme and will be willing to go up to £1000.
I am new to this cycle malarky so any advice from a knowledgeble bike enthusiast would be greatly appreciated!! I do not have a specific manufacturer in mind I just want the best ride and spec for my money

I have to say all of them look pretty poor for the money, especially the Giant - that one is atrocious!

It is not always easy to fit child seats to bikes like these, especially with the disc brakes, you might have to do some further investigation with specific models of bike.

I'd seriously look at getting a mountain bike and fitting slicker tyres. Is going to be lighter, and have far better forks.
