Chain catching on inner ring
Just fitted new Campag 10s chain, old was at 0.75 on Park Tool. Finding that it is `hanging / catching ` on inner--ie rear mech is being pulled back and fro. Inner , campag 34 T, is about 5 000 miles old...but this is all year round use too
Am I correct in thinking that now need new inner as teeth are worn and chain isn`t leaving ring cleanly?

I take it this only happens when you're in the lower half of the cassette? My new 53/39 does exactly the same but I don't ride in the lower half of my 10spd cassette when I'm on the 39. Chain ring wear will be quite obvious with the teeth being more pointed, I'm not convinced that that is the cause though, just because mine does the same and it's new.
You could try an compare your chainset teeth to a new one or just change how you ride? Maybe?0 -
new chains dont flex as much give it a few miles and it will sort its self out and as above dont use those gears for a while."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Do you mean the chain is not coming off the bottom of the ring cleanly
Yes , although it was not as bad today after now 100 miles bedding in. It is the largest sprockets that are most problematic, rear mech flicks back and fro, but improving !:)0 -
Sorry so on the large cogs on the back and the small cog n the front the mech is being pulled forward?
Often or irregularly?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yes as you state and frequently , ie rear mech is continually pulling back and forth.
My theory is that chainring worn / has burrs on teeth and needs replacing but would like other opinions on this too. Worked OK with an older chain, but with a new chain tolerances are closer, less flexible
Pity if I have to replace ring as it`s a Campag Record one , and 5 k miles isn`t that much IMO0 -
If you use the inner ring a lot and in all weathers then 5000 miles is not bad. If the teeth are hooked you will get this. If you can put the bike on a stand and turn the pedals. You should be able to see if the chain is hooking up. It will probably be worse under load.0

This is quite confusing, I can't believe that after 5000 miles the teeth on a Record chainring are hooked? What's the cassette like?0

cassette is worn but not unduly so; have rotated chains and cassettes several times so too am surprised at amount of wear it seems on a Record chainring; BUT it has seen extensive winter use, and old chain, despite regular cleaning / oiling , felt quite gritty from using bike so much on wet / flooded / muddy roads0
