New "USED" Purchase - TREK

Hello Bike Radar Nation,
A co-worker of mine wants to sell his mountain bike. He says it's been used four times in the two years he's owned it. It just hangs on his garage now.
It's a 2011 model of TREK 6500 SLR ... Don't know much about mountain bikes, so I don't know if I pursue this.
He's asking for about $500 USD for it.
Should I get this bike?

As we are a UK website, we don't really have a clue about used prices in the US.
$500 US is £300, which sounds about right if the bike were for sale in the UK......Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
