Would a triple Sram x5 9/10 speed chainset be compatible with a 7 speed cassette on the rear?

Current steed - Whyte T129, 2013 frame, mongrel Revelations, Giant dropper, Stans S1 wheelset. 12, Magura Trail Sport brakes, 1x11. 12.8Kg

along with the appropriate shifters, indexing and limiting (the rd) should work. If you're not experienced it could be a though job tough!

I'm assuming he just means cranks and rings, not the whole caboodle inc mechs, shifters etc.

its cranks only which is 3x7 i suppose at the minute, wouldn't the 3x10 crank just work with existing derailleur and shifter?
