Would a triple Sram x5 9/10 speed chainset be compatible with a 7 speed cassette on the rear?

    Yes
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • along with the appropriate shifters, indexing and limiting (the rd) should work. If you're not experienced it could be a though job tough!

I'm assuming he just means cranks and rings, not the whole caboodle inc mechs, shifters etc.
    That won't work.

  • its cranks only which is 3x7 i suppose at the minute, wouldn't the 3x10 crank just work with existing derailleur and shifter?
