Does anyone know the last time the Tour was won by someone using lace-up shoes http://road.cc/content/review/69877-bont-zero-shoes
Maybe if the laces soak up the rain then you could go for these which are lighter/cheaper again http://road.cc/content/review/63356-bon ... road-shoes

Am I missing something? The Zeros are the shoes that Bradley Wiggins wore for his wins in this year's Tour de France0 -
greasedscotsman (great name by the way) has got it. Wiggo won the 2012 Tour with the Bont Zero's, which are lace up. If in fact you meant "when was the last time someone won before Wiggo" then in that case . . . I have no idea.“Don’t buy upgrades, ride up grades.”

Pretend you read this "The Zeros are the shoes that Bradley Wiggins wore for his wins in this year's Tour de France" and you thought I wonder "Does anyone know the last time the Tour was won by someone using lace-up shoes"
Think past winner :!:0 -
Why the bloody hell would you wanna know, or even care about such a thing?
:?0 -
LA wore lace up Nikes when he raced for USPS.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0
-
Wasn't just his shoes that were laced! Ho ho ho.0

The best person to ask is probably Sir Brad.
In his cycling geek/fan mode it is reputed that he memorised riders shoes from the pastCoach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -

Dam it and I could of asked him here...
Then I was going to get him to sign me photo at the Welshpool Tour of Britain start and the bugger never turned up, now I'm going to the Algarve and he will be in Oman. Anyone would think he was trying to avoid me :oops:0 -

This is very true! He could remember the most obscure things when he was younger... probably still does! (Annoying little shit of a room-mate though...!)0 -
Found these, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B2ZUQubAgU and I thought the sprinters liked to rachet-up before going for the sprint out.
I also like to be able on the move to adjust the tension if my feet start to warm up in hot weather (only normally applicable when I'm abroad). 8)
People spend a fortune on aero bikes these days then we go and stick a load of rough lacing in the path of the wind.
I don't understand why some of the top pros when time trialing don't put smooth overshoes on :?

Phinney had lace ups in today's TTT (blue Giros)Contador is the Greatest0

Didn't see any Sky riders with lace-ups today but three of them had overshoes on.Contador is the Greatest0

And the relevance to the Lance Armstrong statement is what. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe he didn't win any Tours.Over 50mph on Malaucene descent0

Also the UCI banned Bont Crono shoes which are very similar to these http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/w ... oes-34696/
So are we expecting the UCI to strip Bradley of his TDF win.
This rule 1.3.033 (Part 1: General organisation of cycling as a sport) that states 'It is forbidden to wear non-essential items of clothing or items designed to influence the performances of a rider such as reducing air resistance or modifying the body of the rider.'
The way this rule is enforced or not as the case may be by the UCI and other governing bodies is utter bollox me old China.0 -
It's OK, Wiggins was wearing them to keep his feet warm...0

Laces look a bit long. Reminds me of shredding a some laces once when they got caught in a chain...0

Can't say I like those, looks like an ice skating boot."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0

Just before you rush out and buy a pair of these http://www.7hundred.co.uk/11837/products/giro-empire-shoes--deep-silver-.aspx the upper is ultra thin and the lace holes have no eyelets reinforcing the material around them. My guess is within three months of regular use the holes will rip open, probably just tensioning the shoe lace will do it.
Not impressed myself either with the total lack of on the go adjustment this idea provides, there under built and to me they look plain naff.0 -

They're more of a minimalist TT-shoe aren't they?0
