So, I have just got myself a new supersix and I am enquiring to the best frame protection to be using.

So many choices on ebay, but does anyone have any recommendations?

Use what is often referred to as Helicopter tape.

This is a clear, self adhesive, thick tape which is almost invisible when applied.

Comes on rolls or in strips and is easily cut and shaped.

Also sometimes listed as bike frame protection tape.

I have it on my bike - can you see it?

    Yellow is the new Black.
  • + 1 on that its bloody good stuff, can't see it in the photo above but can guess that its protecting the frame from cable damage when the bars are turned amongst other area's.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Try to get the 3M stuff. Most folks on ebay seem to be getting rolls of the tape and cutting it to length will a fair mark up. I recall reading the tape made by 3M is the best for not discolouring - so see if you can be sure of buying that stuff.

+1 and just make sure you get the outdoor/UV resistant version. It doesn't turn yellow.

Black as a saddle should be and to match seat tube. Yellow tape to pick out accent colour in head tube so all as per the rules B-)

I have taped a few frames. It does tend to show the dirt, particularly on edges as well as being harder to clean. It works well on dark colours, whereas over white can be a tad disappointing unless you like the grungy look?
Apply it in a clean area on a warm day - you'll need a hairdryer and a scalpel too. The thicker stuff doesn't handle compound curves like fork crowns and bulging headtubes either
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
