Chainring bolt compatibility

My mechanic skills are almost nil, so sorry for what may be a really daft question....
My current chainring (FC-M442) takes a M8x8.5 bolt, I want to replace this with a M770 chainring which takes a M8x9.1 bolt. Will this work?

they will fit but not ideal as the 8.5 and the 9.1 are the length of the shoulder but 0.5mm should not cause any issues."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

One more question, what is shoulder? Is it the unthreaded but under the head?0
