Those "Name" stickers

You know he ones I'm talking about, they've got a little flag, and then the rider's name. Are they pretentious, or OK? I can understand them on racer's bikes, but are they a little bit "trying too hard" on mere mortals' bikes?

I had some from Victory Graphix, 10 was about $20 IIRC. Lasted well, still got one on road bike, all the others have gone sadly. It's pretty sad, but I liked them!0

To be honest i see these quite often on the start line and they look total knobs and very often the first to get dropped from the race.Zesty 514 Scott Scale 20 GT Expert HalfwayupMTB0

My mum sews my name inside my clothes so I don't lose them, seems only sensible to have it on the bike as well.Uncompromising extremist0

I came across a lad a few weeks back with 'Creaser' on his bike... the name sounds familiar. He said he did some DH which was why his bike had his name. Anyone care to expand upon who I met?0

Well, apart from selling some very nice things, I can't tell much about him from his threads. Is he just some guy with a sticker? Is he a racer? Should I have got him to sign my sack?

Doesn't give much away, probably just a bloke with a sticker, who may or may not race. He can't be anyone that good because he's putting wanted ads out for Hope green stuff - he's not 'earning' it!0

I have seen quite a few of these stickers on bikes. For some reason they all seem to say w**ker. A bit like personalised number plates.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I have to admit private plates are pretty much always on a "nobbers" car.

I think putting private plates on your car, or a named sticker on your bike simply shows how proud you are of what you have. And yeah, some people might plate their Saxos, but their car is a big deal to them - you can't criticise them for being proud of lesser achievements. I once thought of putting my name on my bike because I was proud of it. Thank god I came to my senses mind.0

Which, generally, means you're a knobber.0 -
How can putting plates on define your person? such drizzle0

It doesn't define it, just shows some traits.

The only thing putting plates on your car shows about your personality is that you like plates on your car.

When I first met my mates dad he told me defiantly that "You can tell everything you need to know about a man by his shoes"
I lost all respect for him but to be fair it could of just been his crap shoes.0
