Hi all...

I've got a 1995 Marin Indian Fire Trail which originally caught my eye when I was getting a road bike serviced by a bike recycling charity - I had to have it and the rest is history!!!

If you're a purist and everything has to be original, then please look away now.....I got it to ride it and have added some bits & pieces I like, but maybe not everyone's taste....

Having said that, I have got some other original parts to go on (Marin blue canti brakes and the proper brake shifters) when I get the time and the inclination - I've also got the original white industries cranks, but not the chain rings....

Anyway, this read is useless without pics!!!

    Oooh quill stem....

I have a 1997 Gary Fisher Piranha which other than being yellow and steel, looks very similar!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Very nice! A Ritchey classic seatpost would compliment this nicely. That Thompson looks a bit out of place.

Very nice. Used to have a Bobcat Trail from the same era have still got some of the original turquoise bits somewhere.

Replaced the forks with something from RS, fitted a Syncros post and stem, a kevlar/titanium SDG saddle and a few Ringle bits. Great bike.
  • Thanks for the replies - I've got a nice set of manitou 4 forks from the same era to go on and a couple of other bits :-)

I kind of like the Thomson seatpost even if it is out of place - makes the riding position a bit more comfortable!!

The classic ritchey swan neck would put the saddle in the same place, the only difference with the thomson is it puts an inline style clamp back by bending the post, most the others have the clamp behind the post to achieve the same.

  • Ah right - maybe keep a lookout for one then.....

    Cheers!
