Hi,

I have garmin edge 500 for my bike (which I love) but have now entered a triathlon and want one of the watch types.

Any suggestions on what to go for?

I can hopefully use my current HR strap?

I want something that will measure speed, distance, pace me and organise intervals.

Thanks.

  • Have a Garmin 610 which is good for running, however most people doing multi sport think the XT series are better as they can cover all 3 sports with ease.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Garmin 910XT would fit what you need.

910XT is the Daddy if you want waterproof for swimming etc.

If you want to save a shed load of money and have mp3 player & android head unit built in then may be worth looking at this: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/mot ... e-ec033423

Fantastic device, but a bit more hassle to upload to Garmin Connect.

If you play golf then its even better as you can upgrade the firmware and get some fantastic (apparently) golf stuff.

Watch mount, clip, Armband and Bike Mount (in the accessory pack http://www.evanscycles.com/products/mot ... k-ec033424).

I have just got one and its a really nice piece of kit...

910 is too expensive. Not really fussed about swimming use.

The 410 forerunner seems like a great deal for 133 with the hr strap?

Whatever you get should be OK with your current heart strap. So if you get the 410 you could sell the strap that comes with it, or if you get the motoactv, it is also ANT+ so will work fine.
