Removing cassette

Having a problem removing cassette, QR skewer isn't long enough to go through the hub and the cassette tool. Do I just need a threaded rod?
Also the cassette is wobbling about .5mm side to side. Is this a sign the freewheel is shot or just play in the cassette splines?

Say... That's a nice bike..

You don't need a skewer to remove the cassette - just the splined tool and a chainwhip.
Many freehub bodies have a little play.0 -
having seen your other post, the lockring should be tight. What are the parts in question?0
