cassette threaded bolt

I need to remove the cassette (wobbling) What could the cause of this? The lockring is tight enough. The cassette including the locking is wobbling about .5mm back and forth.
I'm having problems removing the cassette though, the QR skewer is not long enough to go through the wheel with the cassette removal tool as well (to stop tool slipping out during and knackering the lockring spline) so what would I need? A threaded rod?

Play in the freehub?
Skewer shiuld be taken out.
You should be using a chain strap to help undo the cassette surely?0 -
Half a mm doesn't sound like a problemI don't do smileys.

yeah chain whip but you need tool in the splined hole to provide opposite force.

like in 50 seconds, the QR holds the tool so it doesn't slip out.Say... That's a nice bike..

I must have removed 500 cassettes, never had to lock it like that! Though my tools had socket drivers so were easier to use.0

The tool doesn't go in very far. Soon as you apply torque it just slips out.
Knackered lockrings and BB cups in the past, so trying to use the bolt through method from now.
as for what it is, sram/shimano cassette on shimano hub.Say... That's a nice bike..

sure you're using the right tool? The tools for freewheels and freehubs look almost identical, but the thickness and width of the splines is different and if you use the wrong type it won't engage properly.
Just a thought....0 -

No that's a allen key with a piece that allows you to for the bottom left piece onto it. Although I have other wrenches and spanners, so just use the bottom left piece with socket head.Say... That's a nice bike..

It is the right tool - though some freewheel removers look very similar (and even work) - others are poorly designed to do both.0

One with a handle is easier to use, less bits to wobble, and a built in spike keeps it straighter, assuming you've got QR axle.

I have the Aldi/Lidl one as well as a park one, both work fine. Lay the wheel flat and put pressure on the freewheel tool if you find it slipping out (the Aldi ones are a touch shallow), may want to have a helper hold the chain whip on the cassette if you are using both hands due to it being tight0

I have the Lidl one, the problem is some rear hubs don't allow the tool to go in very far, I recently took a cassette off for a friend and had issues as it ony just engaged, on others it disapears all the way in.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
