Cannondale f29 1 - what ya think?

So, up until today i was planning on getting a Canyon cf slx 29. Now i think i have fallen for the Cannondale f29 1 http://www.cannondale.com/gbr/2013/bikes/mountain/hardtail-29er/f-series-29er/f29-1. So, what do you guys think? Will be intended for xc/race, do like the idea of getting it from lbs, who are willing to do a little on the price on the Cannondale....

For the Cannondale about £1800 and £1700 for the Canyon

I'll be frank - it is one of the worst value specs I have ever seen lol. For nearly 2k (the rrp anyway), with a hardtail I'd be wanting a carbon frame, and if not carbon, a top end set of components. This bike has neither, in fact some rather lowly looking bits. Unless you really like the ride I would avoid it.

The Canyon looks far, far better!

And proprietary parts make it a PITA to sort things out. Give me nice standard RS forks etc anyday.

To be fair the Lefty fork is actually very good. Extremely stiff for an xc fork.
Spare parts are readily available and TF Tuned will service them.
The Cannondale still isn't worth more than £1200 though with that spec.

Thanks for your input guys, so any alternatives? What's the worst on the dale then? I thought it was fairly comparable to the likes of Treks and Scott's etc, but really am open to suggestion. I do like the canyon, but delivery is going back soo fast il have in time for 2014 season if I'm lucky lol

Lovely frame and good basis for upgrading though again spec not exactly amazing given the price.

Though that`s true of anything that isn`t a Canyon or On One these days.................... :roll:
