Great video from early '80s comparing Halfords frame with Wester Ross frame. Amazing to see the costs and also how much work went in to the different builds.
Of particular interest to me as I still have my Wester Ross which was made in Aultbea before John moved back down to Yorkshire.
Thanks to http://www.bikebrothers.co.uk/ for the Wester Ross register and the link to the video. Some great stuff on there about Alf Engers too. Brings back many memories of reading about him in Cycling Weekly.
Had forgotten about the fact that John drew up each bike. I disagreed with his plans for mine and ended up with an amazing handling bike that with 74 parallel angles was steeper than he proposed. Got a pretty poor paint job in the wrong shade of red and very poor transfers, but they are still on the bike to this day.

Your a bad man, now I want to have a go at building my own frame even more!
I doubt mine would be even half as good as the Halfords but at least it would be mine!0 -
Found this linked from it too, which was even more interesting
