Looking to buy some bike bits from Israel - Import tax?

Believe it or not!
Does anyone know if I would get hit for import duty - I assume so, but am struggling to find anything online.
Just on the offchance wondered if anyone had first hand experience?

4.8% then the VAT and then a handling charge.
but if small low value you should be fine.

They are approx £135 of cycling shoes (of which £20 is postage), new, but used if that makes sense, so I imagine I would be looking at:
135 * 4.8% = £6.75 (approx)
New total = £142.75 + Vat @ 20%, so new total would be £170 - + handling fee, probably puts them up at around £180 :-(
Hmmm, looking less attractive.

Daniel and then something goes wrong....... or they dont fit....
there is a great company out there doing mech hanger etc now i would have no issues using them as it is low value and easier to make sure it fits.

They are actually shoes off of ebay, and they appear to be unused - I think they still have tags but they are not attached - does that change matters at all do you think?
The thing that appeals is that over here the cheapest I can get these particular shoes is £220, and from reading reviews online I am fairly confident they would fit - and of course as long as they reached me ok, I could sell them on if they ended up not being the right fit for me.
If they end up costing £180 though, it makes no sense, as I may as well may 20% more and have the return option etc etc.
Cheers

LOL, bit of apprentice reference there?!
Ok, so these shoes I want are a 2011 model, and I have found a website called BikeInn which I believe are French or German (?) that means I can get the latest model for £174 delivered.
Assuming if it is a German or French website (Tricky to tell as just a .com web address) then that is all I would have to pay.
EDIT: Looking on the contact page it would seem they are Spanish!
Anyone bought from them?
Many thanks
Dan

The item can only be worth up to £40 as a gift before it gets taxed. You can have multiple items, each worth less than £40, labelled for multiple people inside the same box and avoid tax that way, but that's hardly going to work with a pair of shoes
I think for a pair of shoes you could get away with stating that they're used and worth £30, but that'd affect any potential insurance claim.
