Chain Reaction cycles taking the michael

I've just upgraded my Tacx Flow trainer to the VR i-flow. Having tried to get to grips with the slightly confusing variety of Tacx units and software I mistakenly thought that the difference between the Evans price of £140 and the Chain reaction price of £243 was down to the more expensive unit coming with the advanced software. My mistake, the software quoted by Chain reaction was actually the older (but still basic) software. In the end it came with the never 4.0 basic, the same as Evans.
So, over £100 down the drain. I contacted Chainreaction to point out the discrepancy and see if they would price match, a faint hope given they now had my money. This was the reply,
Thanks for your email.
We do not offer a price matching service.

I hope this helps.
Fair enough, they don't price match. The rest of the email made me want to vomit. I'm not planning to subscribe to their email list, I would rather poke needles in my eyes.

I fail to see what they've done wrong? You admit it was your mistake?
The thing that irritated was the second paragraph of their response which I think was pretty inappropriate in the circumstances
Ultimately, you can either have a system where everyone keeps close to retail price or you can have one where there are big bargains to be had. But when that happens, sometimes you miss out. Still cheaper in the long term.
And if you don't subscribe to their email list, you are just cutting your nose off to spite your face.
This reads to me as if you bought from CRC - got it out - set it up - so it is now used. Then saw that it was available on Evan's for a cheaper price and now you want the difference back.
I have a Tacx turbo and I know for certain that you will not of been able to set it up without scratching it in some way.
The only person taking the Michael is the OP. I guess that is why their repeat customers like myself, who don't take the Mickey and try and send back used goods get excellent service.
If you haven't used it - send it back - FREE of CHARGE!
CRC don't owe you anything....
Gordon Bennett mate, at least do me the courtesy of reading the original post a bit more carefully! You are correct, I did open the package and set it up, so I haven't tried to send it back. I haven't taken the mickey trying to send back used goods. I know CRC don't owe me anything.
I would have preferred them just to confirm that they don't price match. It was the "We're dedicated to bringing you the best products at the best possible value and work hard to ensure our pricing is the most competitive it can be." because, in this instance the pricing clearly isn't as competitive as can be. I'm really not sure how that was supposed to help.
Never mind, I've gotten over it and am enjoying the VR i-flow
