Help need advice

Hi, I am thinking of buying a 2013 Trek superfly 100 al elite for £2200 it's the 29er. I want to see what the benefits of bigger wheels are over 26'' wheels. I currently have a 2011 giant anthem x1 which set me back £2700 so what I want people's advice on this. Should I go ahead and buy the Trek 29er or upgrade my giant? I could upgrade practically everything on the bike up to XTR level, including the rear shock for about £ 1500. What do you think I should do? I really would be grateful for peoples help with this.
