Hi all,
I'm currently running a pair of Mavic Kysrium ssc's which are top wheels. I have just bought a white giant advanced tsr sl & may change to a new pair of wheels. I'm 6'1" & 88 kg so i do need a strong pair (she cried), any thoughts on differing choices ? Budget approx' £300
thanks in advance

And the reason to change to a "cheaper" set is because the SSC are giving you grief or simply they are past their best and in need of well deserved retirement?
I am asking as in the former, you might want to look into something more substantially spokes, while in the latter you might want to take advantage of some form of deal Mavic can offer you in exchange for your older wheelsleft the forum March 20230 -
Hi Ugo,
Yes, it's the latter, they have been fantastic wheels & i am only toying with the idea. I think the new frame deserves some new hoops. I wasn't aware of the exchange deal. I've looked on Mavic's site & can't find it, do yo have a link please?

Most shop would be happy to take your wheels in and give you a discount on new ones... it is only worth it if your wheels are well battered and beyond the state you feel comfortable at selling them. The other plan is to keep them for spares, the hubs have probably the same bearings and spokes might be used as spare... as well as they might not.
See what makes sense.
If instead you are ready to abandon the world of corporate wheels, warranty claims, return and replace woes, missing plastic caps, sexy red anodised nipples, zicral aero spokes, carbon laminate rims, lack of spares and as much aero as you can fit in your mouth, you can get a different perspective reading my blog...
