I'm thinking of ordering some brakes from bikediscount.de but need them by next week end. Are they usually reasonably quick to deliver?

Normally take 2 or 3 days, pretty quick from my experiences and they dispatch unbelievably quick, Ive ordered something before lunch and I've had emails soon after sayings its been dispatched, so under 2 hours after ordering. Fantastic service and if you want shimano or Schwalbe stuff as I often do, they cant be beat imo.

Thanks. Just found the same brakes £8 cheaper on Rose bikes :D

Rose are also good, had a few communication problems with them, an email telling me the brakes I ordered in January wouldn't arrive until December

Since that minor hiccup which was quickly resolved I've had no issues from them. Just make sure they come with the Icetech pads if you go shimano, both my XT's from Rose came without them.

To be honest I don't really care if they have the icetech pads. I know plenty of very fast DH racers who use the latest Saint & Zee brakes with standard Superstar pads and claim the finned pads make no difference at all unless you are on a 4+ minute track where you are braking a lot and heat can build up.

I trust you realise you'll have to swap levers to the UK stylee?

That's very easy and it's likely he'd be shortening the hoses anyway.

Order it at lunchtime with DPD and they re usually next day to the Netherlands. I'd add an extra day maybe as they have to get over the channel...

  • Yes always use the DPD option, DHL farm it out to Parcel Force in the UK and are a lot slower than DPD.

I made an order from there yesterday for a few bits.

Chose DHL option so will see how long it takes!

ime they are usually pretty quick and DHL/Yodel have been pretty flexible when it comes to delivery

Having said that we have had zero post since last Thursday the conditions are 'too hazardous' even though everyone else seems to be coping ok

Ordered a tyre Monday PM and it arrived this morning.

That was with the standard DPD delivery.

    My experience with bike-discount:

Ordered a full bike from them - about 4 weeks
Lots of drivetrain bits - about 5/6 days
    Brakes - 4 days (including a weekend)

I was going to order some brakes from Rose this weekend.
I saw this on the website and thought it looked odd. How easy is it swap over the levers on a Deore 596 set?

Easy enough. Remove, cut, insert spiky thing, add olive, screw up. Unless you are unlucky, which is very likely, in which case bleed.
