Hi, just got a new frame ( felt six team 2012 ) and wanted to double check what headset i need. I think it's a 'integrated' headset.
i just keep seeing key words like Aheadset, Pushfit which are Confusing me a little bit. Got two pictures of the head tube as they are different. thanks
Joe

integrated headset
from http://2012.feltracing.com/France/2012/ ... -Team.aspx
have read on parktools about headsets"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Crack out the verniers and have a look at this on the Cane Creek website too. It proved invaluable to me.

Thanks people, was a bit confusing withe the cane creek standard and Italian standard.
I spoke to the UK felt dealer and the said "fully integrated 1 1/8th cane creek standard"
Do i just pop these into the frame ???0 -
Should do yeah. In the photos you can see the machined chamfer which the bearing sits against. Then a crown race for the upper and lower. The upper may have a cover too which the spacer, or stem if you don't have spacers, sit on.0

MORE confusion i just got my Cane Creek 40 Series IS Integrated 1 1/8 Inch Headset 1 1/8" x 41mm Short Black through the post and it fits ok, But the top cap is way to small. Think i need 50mm top cap, does that sound like a standard size ? Just measured up with the CC headset finder and it's telling me IS42/28.6|IS42/30 but cant find that with a 50MM Od top cap.
is this a rare size or im a just being dumb?0 -
The top cap goes on the fork.
Pics of what you have and how you are trying to put it together."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

that will do.
your frame is fatter than most."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

If that cover was flush with the top tube it would be perfect. could probably ride like that but my OCD would never allow it lol0

well as you can see your frame is the wrong size for the standard. for a IS 1 1/8 the frame should be45mm OD.
you see if you can get a ZS top cover but it may be the wrong shape to work."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

What about if i ditched the cups if the bearings where the right size for my frame? Im starting to think there is no such thing as a integrated headset with a 50 mm OD cover.0
