have you considered looking into the mirror and ask yourself, how do I improve this fat POS?

But its a lot easier to spend money on upgrades than lose weight. Then you justify it by saying the new equipment will make you go out more and so lose more weight!

It was done via diet first, and by not spending all the cash on rubbish food, meant more for the 2 bikes I bought to loose the last stone. Now, whats the ribble cycles link again...

I had a back injury which stopped me exercising, then got a sat down job, then got KFC and pizzhut set up on a direct debit.... Then got diabetes for my 40th birthday... so the weight had to go :-)

It was looking in the mirror on New Years day 2012 that made me get back in biking.

I was 16st 8lb and the wife said when I got to 15st I could buy a 3D TV. I hit that and got myself an Orbea Aqua instead. Now I am 11st 12lb and have have just taken delivery of a Ribble R872 as I feel that I can make the most out of it now.

Cheers mate, congrats to you as well.

It feels good to be here and have even entered a couple of sportives this year. One of them being the Etape Cymru, so the wife thinks I am mad.

The Ribble was a treat as I hit 12st in June and for keeping it off for six months though why not treat myself, missus got her 3d tv when I hit the 12stonje mark so she's happy. Even happier now that she has a carbon Planet X as well.

Yes but that only highlights the flaw in your question and promotes upgrading even more.

Of course I bloody have that is why I have just upgraded my bloody bike so I can go out and lose weight innit

I went to the toilet, lost a couple grams. Does that qualify me now for an upgrade :?:

When you can't shave any more kgs off your body, and is starting to count rice grains you eat, then I guess it makes sense to think about shaving grams off your bike :)

It's funny to spend a fortune shaving 500 grams and then putting 10000 grams on it.

But it also makes sense to try and keep the rider/machine package as low as possible, so if you gain 10lbs then making the bike 10lbs lighter HAS to be sensible...right :-)

If you can't diet then might as well put the bike on one instead!

No, but I'm neither fat, nor a POS.

Which bike upgrade makes the bike 10lb lighter, cos I would gladly pay for it :P .

Nope, because I'm ~150 lbs and it's only going up from here.

Although, due to being in college, I doubt I'll be wanting to really buy a new bike for a while. Anyone want to make a donation to a striving, ridiculously busy college student?
