Giant Trance X sizing - What do you ride?

I'm out of the country at the minute, so I can't test the bikes in person just yet, but what size do you guys ride, and how tall are you? At 5ft 6 (29 inside leg but longer in the torso) I seem to be between sizes. I've searched various threads and see people at my size with both small and mediums due to the short top tube

Thanks in advance

I'm 5'6" and 29" inside leg, my hardtail Scott Aspect is a medium and to be honest it is just a little bit too big for me with hardly any stand over clearance, my FS Anthem is a small and it's perfect for me, my next hardtail frame I think will end up being a small.

I'm 5'6" and had a medium Trance which to be honest was too small for me.

So at 5' 6" you're saying you would have gone for a large? Interesting, I've tested a good fair few bikes including a trance and a large would be far too stretched out and I'm 5' 8"

I know its not all about height but averages would indicate that your other measurements would be smaller or similar, but I'm surprised none the less if that's the case.

I ride a large Trance, but then I'm 6ft. At 5'6 you'd be well stretched, but thats personal preference I guess!

Im 5'11 and ride a medium trance 2010 model ,and is fine for me. If it was a road bike I would probably take a large, obviously being a mtb, some more space for movement under you is better. You can always make a smaller bike fit bigger, but not the other way round.

6' with 32" inside leg and I found a large Trance slightly preferable to a Medium. Although I could have lived with either to be honest. Large was better on climbs and flats, medium better on the way down (easier to throw it about).

5'9, 31" leg and I used to ride a medium, perfect for me with a 90mm stem

    Why did I type 5'6"? I'm 6'1"!
I must have been trying to look like I was working when I wrote that.

5ft 9", 33" inside leg (yes I have a short body!) fairly long arms though. I ride a medium with stock stem and it fits spot on.

 I actually thought you were being sarky at first

My Lapierre Spicy was a small but I found myself hanging off the back of the seat despite a kickback seatpost, and my '08 Carrera Vulcan is a medium (18") with a fairly long stem and that's perfect for me. On an '09 Stumpjumper I'm a medium (17"). Hmm
