Hi guys I'm after a pair of padded bib cycle shorts to wear on road and mtb bike all year round. Don't wanna down more than £50, any recommendations? My lbs has the endura fs260 so aware of this one. Also what size? I'm about a 37" waist with thighs like tree trunks!! My current muddyfox cheapos are an xl

Thanks guys

Slightly over budget but I think these are excellent

Very comfy, have washed them loads and still look/feel like new. DHB sizing charts are normally accurate.
  • Thanks could stretch, however, any thoughts on these...

I have some Live Strong -Bontrager (Trek) - ones within that budget which were suprisingly good. Might get them discounted after Lance's interview!

Shame about the colour (althoguh I'll be wearing stuff over the top so it doesn't really matter) but I just ordered some of these:

The bibs turned up today and for the money I'd say they are very good but will make you look like a chocolate orange! Not so good with my black bike then (but I'll be wearing stuff over the top)...

Definitely a summer bib, thin sweat wicking material with some nice features like anti-pilling material around the sides of the legs and up the hips, well stitched together and the obligatory rubber bits around the end of the legs to keep them pulled down.

Padding is decent but not brilliant and comes in many sections. Much better than the padded liners that came with my Endura Humvee shorts but doesn't feel quite as good as my Endura shorts - I don't have any others to reference this too and obviously haven't ridden on them yet.

They are sized as "athletic fit" which according to the tab is the one skinnier than slim fit. I take medium in pretty much everything and am certainly not skinny but these (in medium) fit me fine.

All in all I am more than happy with them for the pittance they cost :)

    Just ordered some myself. Cheers.

  • I've alwasy previously used DHB and found them good/very good but I think the new models are not nearly as good quality as pace and previous. I tried FS260s last summer - wore them once and got chaffing - the pad edges were too bulky for me.
  • Cool thanks, shame the Scott's aren't black!!

Could I ask what approx weight, height and waist size you are?

I tend to take small or mediums, and they have both left. Thinking of getting some for commuting/turbo duty.

I'm 5'7" (and, importantly, a half  ), 32in waist, 38in chest, classic "medium" territory really although I often buy small running tops and they fit fine too (assuming you don't like it baggy). Not weighed myself in a while but prob around 11 and a half stone.

I wore the bibs to commute today and I have to say I didn't even notice they were there which is a good thing as I was totally comfy all the way. Admittedly it's only 8 miles each way but usually that's far enough to get an idea of whether something is totally crap.

    Hope that helps...
