Snapped a piece on my front crud roadracer mk2 , i took my front wheel off to get my caad into my car and i heard a snap when i set the bike in, turns out it was the nose piece on my front guard :x it looks like there is a section which slides in between the nose section and the lower section and does anybody know if you can pick up a spare or is it a new whole front guard ?

Go to the website for spares. The nosepiece is held on with a knurled nut so you'll need that as well.0

thanks for that link tom, thing is I dont see the part that snapped . its the plastic section which the screw is screwed into and acts as a link between the nose and lower section, do you know if that section is supplied ?2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050 -
All the parts are available on the w/site, superb fast service.0

i watched the online installation videos and i can see why some said they werent much help. on the crud website they sell a front nose kit with cable ties and nuts etc........but the one thing i DONT see is the piece which i snapped upon setting the bike in my car, the link piece between the front nose and tail.
it would be a great help if they listed a phone number where you can speak to the makers to clarify everything.2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050 -
There are only three main parts to a front Crud - nose, middle and tail. It's probably the middle that has broken but you can check yourself as the main part of the rear guard is the same as the front. It's only the noses and tails that vary.Faster than a tent.......0

strange how they dont list the middle section as available on the spares page on the crud website :?2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050

They do! It's the top one, the big bit - Roadracer blade:

There's nothing between the nose and the blade. There is a projection on the blade that sits underneath the rear part of the nose - but it isn't a separate part. Trust me - I have a spare set right infront of me! My guess is that the projection has broken off.
Here - figure 2!

yeah that looks like it rolf, looks like its a new blade i need then. is the front blade as much of a swine to fit as the rear one looks ?2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050

Will depend on your bike. On mine the clearances up front are that tight that the nose tends to rub on the tyres without a lot of fiddling - I never had much bother with the rear. Note that a lot of people don't bother with the nose at all. I think it's worth the bother as it keeps a lot of cack off the brakes and they get dirty enough as it is.
It's also something that lends itself to a bodgy repair!Faster than a tent.......0 -
On the plus side, your new blade bit comes with spare bolt / thumbscrew bit. I lost one of mine, 4 pound bloody 50! Saw me coming[urlhttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=f3252&r=3&c=5&u=I&g=s&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png]Veloviewer[/url]0

They did! You should have thought about what you'd most likely need and spent £2.00 extra on one of the more useful part sets!
Incidentally, there are still Crud Mk1 kits for sale and they can be had cheaply. I got one recently from Halfords for £13 irrc. The only thing it is missing from a Mk2 set is the part that protects the rear mech and that is very unlikely to get damaged. So I have a complete set of spares for the price of two packets of spares from Crud. That should keep me going for a while! Mind you, I haven't needed any yet though I'll be replacing a blade in Spring (mud eroded it!)Faster than a tent.......0 -
i must be lucky ive had my crud 2's for 2 years and i haven't had any issues with them at al.
apart from taking the wheels off from time to time to remove the crap under the cruds0 -
I don't use the front guard at all as it doesn't make much difference to me IMO, apart from keeping the underside of thr downtube clean.
At least this meant that when I broke the rear part of the rear mudguard, I managed to add bits from the front guard to reconstruct the rear guard. All that was needed was a drill and a few small nut/bolt combinations. Looks slightly naff but who cares if you're dry and you cannot see it when you're looking forward ?0
